<a href="http://kansieo.com">chess pieces</a>

Chess is a game of property. Own the most spaces and limit their options. That's where knights shine! use them to get to key positions when the board is tied up. You don't have to move them. You just have to own the key spaces with them. That's how to get them in a position to fork someone.

To avoid getting forked you're going to have to learn how to look further ahead than your opponent. If you're in a position to be forked and it's unavoidable, try to make an equal or greater threat on one or more of his pieces. Sometimes you can chase them enough to get one of the pieces that was going to be fork in an attacking position on another one of their pieces. If you do that, you're either out of the fork or in a position to trade. Hopefully with a better trade than you would have had with the knight.
Remember also. Play position. If you can LET them fork you to draw the attention away from another part of the board. It could be in your interest to LET them fork you. Always look at all your options.

if the position of the knight is on the dark square put your pieces on the white squares in that case if the knight moves it will be placed on the white square and will be attacking pieces on the dark squares. It will be on the other way around if the knight is on the white square before it moves, i.e., put your pieces on the dark squares.
